1950

  • Started the test production of fluorescent lamps at the Radio Operations Division of NEC Corporation.

1952

  • Began mass production of fluorescent lamps(10,15,20,40W)

1955

  • Commenced mass production of our first lighting fixtures for residential use(20W 1 lamp fixture).

1963

  • Installed the first Runway Threshold Identification Lights employing xenon electronic flash lamps at Tokyo Haneda International Airport.
  • Marketed plant growth-promoting lamp "BITALUX."

1965

  • Delivered "BITALUX"(currently BIOLUX)as light source for promoting growth of vegetables used by Japanese Antarctic Expedition Party.

1968

  • Launched operation of Minakuchi Plant(currently Shiga Plant).

1979

  • Introduced 3-band fluorescent lamps "LIFELOOK."

1987

  • Launched soft inverter-employed lighting fixtures.

1990

  • Started marketing light sources for office equipment.
  • Developed industry's first electrodeless lamps.

1995

  • Developed industry's first after-glow,3-band fluorescent lamps "HOTALOOK."
  • Developed cold cathode fluorescent lamps(utilized in LCD backlighting units).

1997

  • Launched lighting fixture employing slim fluorescent lamp "SLIM MATE Series."

1999

  • Launched industry's first slim,after-glow fluorescent lamps "HOTALOOK SLIM."

2000

  • Separated Lighting Business Division of NEC Home Electronics,Ltd.and established NEC Lighting,Ltd.

2004

  • Established NEC Lighting(Shanghai)Co.,Ltd.and NEC Lighting(Taiwan)Co.,Ltd.

2005

  • Established Ina Plant.

2007

  • Established Shiga Second Plant.

2008

  • Launched LIFELED'S Series with LED as light sources.

2009

  • Launched +CLine Series with CCFL as light sources.
